The white flowers of anticancer drugs

Flowers white or baby's breath are beautiful usually only found in a flower shop. But another recent study found that the effectiveness of the beauty behind this interest is, as a cancer drug.

Experts say the scientific name of flower extract of Gypsophila paniculata, can improve the effectiveness of cancer drugs up to a million times.

They found a molecule called saponin from an extract of white flowers are real flowers of Eastern Europe. This molecule that can break the membranes of cancer cells.

Saponin molecules to antibody-based drugs, known as immunotoxin is easier to be able to attack cancer cells.

As a result, immunotherapy is used to treat some types of leukemia (blood cancer) and lymphoma (cancer of the lymphocytes) increased by more than one million times.

This discovery has been made by scientists working for the charity Leukaemia Busters, based in Southampton, Hants. And current research in the Research Laboratory Simon Flavell Leukaemia Southampton General Hospital.

The organization is led by Dr. David and Bee Flavell, Flavell, whose son Simon died in 1990 because of an incurable blood cancer when he was 10 years old.

"Usually I have very careful what I say, especially about things like this. However, the present invention can completely revolutionize the way in which antibody-based drugs work, and save lives," said Dr. David Flavell, as reported by the Telegraph, Friday (30/04/2010).

According to Dr. David, a white flower extract, not only can be applied to leukemia, there is a possibility of this medication may be used for various types of cancer.

This breakthrough is the result of 12 months of research and testing in collaboration with scientists based in the German capital, Berlin.

"We still need to conduct laboratory-based work to develop the invention into a practical and safe treatment for patients. And money is the key to achieving this," said Flavell.

Scientists and doctors from the Leukemia Busters has worked tirelessly day and night for years, and only depend on the generosity of donors and donations to fu
